Livin la vida Lembongan!

So we finally made it to Lembongan, Indonesia.

Since heading off from Pipalyatjara we drove to Amata, or as it was that week, Dramata. Our battery was dying, and after many jump starts, just before our show, we flagged down a truck. Sarah was connecting up the jumper leads when, "BANG!" Luckily all she had were ringing ears and some ruined clothes.

Back to Alice and it was time to hit the road for real, driving up to Darwin, stopping off at Mataranka and Litchfield NP for a swim on the way. We were taken out to dinner by Uncle Alan, Kim and Gemma to Pee Wees restaurant on the beach. Incredible fine dining. Thanks guys!

Today finally came when we jumped (crawled, it was 4:45am!) onto the plane to Denpasar, taxi to Sanur, then a slow boat to get us to Nusa Lembongan by 9:30am. Snoozes, swims, Bintang, yummy food, a beautiful beach for the next 4 days!

VEGAS via Pipalyatjara baby!

So last Sunday we packed our bags, left our beautiful house and began our journey to Las Vegas......via Pipalyatjara and Amata, 2 indigenous communities (kinda in the opposite direction to Vegas) in the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara lands in the remote north west of South Australia.
We headed 700km south west in our trusty old troopy packed with circus gear, dropping in to visit our mate Mark (cameleer) and Connor (circus camel) at the Camel farm at Yulara, then past Uluru and Kata Tjuta on the beautiful back road to Pip, with a near miss of almost hitting 5 or so "camelflaged" feral camels on the way.




We have had an amazing week hanging out with the kids at Pipalyatjara and Kalka (population 150), with lots of bush trips around this stunning country.  On Wednesday we found ourselves at 3 ways...the border of Northern Territory, South Australia and Western Australia, where we made a short film with the kids about Mamu's (spirits).  The highlight of the week was staging an event on the outskirts of the community where there is an old car painted like an ice-cream truck.  Cooky took the kids on  mystery car drive and the kids discovered that the old truck was OPEN! As they ran towards the truck a confetti gun popped and Sarah appeared from the truck with ice cream for everyone!!!

Last night was the "CIRCUS SHOW" where together with all the kids we put on a show for the whole community.  Smiles aplenty :)

Welcome to our blog, the adventures of Circosis. We are Sarah and Cooky, circus artists who live in the heart of Australia, Alice Springs. The above picture is us on our trapeze rig in our backyard, whilst on a short film shoot for our full length theatre show "A Circus Affair."

We spend most of our time delivering social circus programs to remote indigenous communities in Central Australia and combined have spent over 20 years living and working on remote communities.

Our love affair with circus was discovered together over 8 years ago when were invited to be part of a local circus production, and since then we haven't looked back, travelling to NZ to train with the most lovable Russian circus trainers resulting in a Diploma of Circus Arts.

We both met in Alice Springs and developed a mutual love for travelling....and eventually... each other whilst wwoofing and walking in Spain, Portugal, Morocco, Holland, Belgium, Malaysia and Thailand in 2002.

Last year we bought our first house and, overwhelmed by the dump that it was, discovered some other loves outside of circus; ie Renovating. So in our spare time (ha!) we have transformed our place into a beautiful desert oasis and circus playground!

This year we are headin on a wild ride to Vegas to get hitched by a vertically challenged Elvis...then on to Costa Rica to volunteer in a social circus program.
