After living it up in Vegas after our wedding (we got married!) we hit the road again and had a look at the Grand Canyon, and yep, it's a big un.
After 4 hours of checking out the south rim (apparently 6 hours is the average stay) we headed for Flagstaff, where we ended joining a Halloween party. They really go all out with their costumes. Met some lovely locals as well as some other travelers, and had a great night, ending up at a bar that had a local reggae band playing. And of course we couldn't help but pull some circus move on the dance floor.
With a slight hangover the next morn, it was back onto the wrong side of the road, this time heading down a canyon to Sedona, a touristy town situated in an amazingly beautiful place. It's what we imagined Arizona to be like and more. I think we enjoyed the landscape more than the grand canyon.
Well, it was time to say goodbye to the USA, so we headed to LA via Phoenix, with all it's giant cacti (also what we expected of Arizona).
A short flight later and we're in México City at 5am! After a much needed sleep in a hotel we set out to find Frida Kahlo's house, Casa Azul. The Metro system in MC is excellent, although very crowded. Casa Azul was much bigger than we imagined, and a beautiful museum of her work and personal effects.
After a beautiful meal at a quaint little "meson" (we love Mexican food!) we headed for the central plaza, where there were hundreds of beautiful and creepy parade floats displayed, ready for the Dia de los Muertos. Tiny delicious tacos at a market near our hotel to finish the day. What an amazing day!
